John,
Regarding your advice, I haven't change resistors yet, but, lack had it that I found a free 30A Schumaker Charger, that was blown, so I gutted it, and in doing so "beefed" up a lot of...

Nick,
I share your desire to put excitation together with high output and plan on doing some more experiments when I have more time this winter. It can be a bit of an obsessive (tweaking forever)...

12V exciter
@Nick_Z
To minimize transistor burnout on 12V, try using a finer gauge (thinner) primary. The thicker the wire on the primary, the higher the draw. You can also use a choke on the input.

I did a second more conclusive, albeit still rather unscientific test of running the charger, under load. So, 20 watts of solar power, and 20 watts of load, simultaneously for 4 hours.
In the end,...

TS SS SSG (24V) Bedini Solar Specific
In a series of fun (and not so scientific) experiments, I have found that the Tesla Switch variant of the SS SSG operating under two solar panels, wired in series to 30,000 uF caps, with forced...

Thanks for your input, both of you, very interesting points. Another misleader is frequency and RMS, DMM's. I have found for example, I can take an air core SSG, and if I instead...

@NickZ
60 mA is plenty for low light, yes. You can run LEDs with a conventional SEC-15x or SEC-18x, or you can play with the coil size dimensions and run CFL's even from that, as jonnydavro showed,...
