Not A Scam
Hi Folks,
Information Unlimited is not a scam company. They are a great company that has been around since the 1970's. They sell plans and kits for high voltage experiments, based on conventional physics. The "Free High Voltage" plans are about accumulating electro-static charges from moving air and using this to charge a capacitor. They openly say that the effect is interesting, but that the amount of energy accumulated is of no practical use. This is no exaggeration in the selling of the plans or kits. This company is a great resource for high voltage components, and I have used them as a supplier on numerous occasions. Peter Last edited by Peter Lindemann : 04-30-2011 at 02:40 PM. |

@Romander You'll get a better response if you post a pic of the extra pieces as well as a circuit diagram (so long as Information Unlimited doesn't have a copyright disclaimer). Dave |

I'm glad a couple of you didn't get ripped off but I sure did. I joined the forums to warn others.
information unlimited sent me a "new" ultrasonic deterrent that arrived with a broken on/off switch. I found out after inserting the batteries and inadvertently pushed the button pick the unit up, no trigger guard. I contacted the company and was given the advice "you could just not push the button" when I mentioned this was dangerous and I was send a defective product I was told in a condescending voice "well just send it back and we will put in a new switch for you" So I'm sent an untested defective product and I'm expected to pay shipping to send it back so they can fix it??? I'd hate to see anyone else get scammed like myself. I'm joining every forum that anyone has asked about this company so they can avoid the waste of money and time and having to put up with information unlimited's sorry service and product. The deterrent I bought is useless against birds and dogs merely turn an ear or bark. Bottom line don't let yourself or your friends get burned like me. Jim |

I've had nothing but good experiences with them. Purchased lots of odds n ends and all was as expected.
I did buy those plans ( 2 bux download ) and the antenna does work. It would take a huge amount of surface area to actually see any amount of accumulated power from it. It was fun and I learned something from it. No complaints here... |

I bought a 25KV high voltage supply, and one of their Tesla coil kits. They both cost a lot, but they both worked perfectly on assembly. My only complaint was that the plans for the Tesla coil showed the secondary being attached to mains ground - something which is just crazy! I tripped the fusebox a lot of times thanks to this misinfo! Fortunately I found several websites which clearly stated - EARTH GROUND!
I think they were pretty good in retrospect....shame the neon sign transformer broke last year when I tried to bring it back from Moscow in my luggage. If anyone knows where I can get another NST (the ones that work with tesla coils) I would be much obliged! |

I haven't bought anything from them in a while but I also have always had good luck with them. They did offer to fix the problem for Jim. There are very few companies that will pay the shipping when you have to send something back to them. I think he was offered a reasonable solution to his problem.
Respectfully, Carroll |
