Ultra Capacitor Experiments

I have all of these capacitors in a bank that is wired into a 16.2V 2000 Farad configuration, but I have no idea what to do with it now. I didn't know if I could maybe do some tests for anyone that was wondering about these capacitors. I did do a run test with my electric scooter, but that's about it.

I saw a vid on youtube tried to find it again but no luck, the guy took a amp reading on a ac motor just hooked up to a mains plug , I cant remember what the reading was, then he placed a cap in series with the motor an drew considerably less amps with the cap hooked up.
What would happen if you connected two three or four caps, might be something to check out.

That's called an AC run capacitor. A 25 microfarad capacitor in series with a load allows 1 amp of current to flow. Every 25 microfarad increase is one more amp. So run capacitors are used to limit the power flowing through the small ac motor.
The ultracaps are not rated for AC electricity, and will just explode. And their rating is so high that it would be like having nothing there at all, as they would allow for the maximum amp flow.(3000 farad is many times 25 microfarad)

For 220 volt ac, it's 2 amps per 25 microfarad*

I would love to, but I don't have any jumper cables that can handle that much current, or any welding rods, lol

I always wondered how well you could charge one up with NEGATIVE ELECTROSTATIC current, like from a van de graff.... Just extra electrons that want to get away, but NO positive..... I have a feeling that you can charge these with high voltage if it's ONLY negative without ruining/shorting them. Or maybe you could try a cockcroft walton negative output, just one wire connected to the cap charging it.

I've always found this very interesting! How can I find more information on how to charge the capacitor with one lead going in? I looked up Cockcroft Walton and only got voltage multipliers for AC. Is the trick it in the circuitry? You suggest only doing it with negative... would positive would dissipate and burn up the capacitor?

Very interesting to run a motor off of capacitors. Now lets see a bedini charger charging up the capacitors? I wonder how well the bedini charger would charge up ultra caps.

I need to put my bedini back together so I can test it. But I could only ever get around 65% efficiency out of my bedini :/ I think I need to wind a new coil

Holy sh*t man.... Those caps cost a good part!

Search in youtube a video called "Electricity amplification by neo magnets". And try a similar experiment with your supercaps.

I got most of them for $20 each. Still a waste of money, lol.
Some guy over at the ultracap's forum was selling the 2600 farad ones for $10 a pop. I just didn't want to spend anymore money on these or I would have bought some of those too.

I'll bet the day will come when you feel like a genius for dropping the dollars on all those caps. Good find.
