Maybe this is useful for you guys too. You can make a cheap, digital oscilloscope using the soundcard of a normal PC as input.

There is some free software available:
Oscilloscope for the Soundcard
Sound card based multimeter
PCScope: PC based digital oscilloscope using sound card

For Linux:
xoscope for Linux


You can build a very simple input circuit like this:

But, it would be much better to add some buffering hardware with some more protection for your soundcard:

For a 1000 time probe, you can take something like a 22 Mohm resistor for R1, and a 22 kohm for R2.
