Diesel engine safety circuit.

A question was posed to me about a concern of Diesel engine glow plugs igniting the hydroxy mix before the engine was running. His oil pressure switch did not lend itself well to controlling a relay. After some searching I found a diagram that tends to mitigate this possible BOOM! scenario. It adds a relay holding circuit that positively powers down the booster unit before the next start up in case the driver forgets to turn the unit off. This diagram was shamelessly stolen from someone else (author unknown), corrected/modified to make use of the standard Bosch 30A/40A automotive relays and their terminal numbers. Have a look. Comments/corrections are always welcomed.

It looks like the way you have this that the full 20 amps from the cell would be going through you ign. I think you need to take pin 30 of relay to Battery direct. Also the relay shown and needed would be SPDT relay It should work, I will try it on my truck. Thanks

Diesel engine safety circuit

If you connect pin 30 directly to the battery the relay will never turn off until you disconnect it from the battery. The circuit shows pin 87 going to the regular relay for the booster. The relay shown is a SPDT relay, it is labeled wrong. Hope this helps,
citfta

Found this, dont know if its of any help.

"A point of referance:

If the motor is well used, you could preclean it with 1 to 2 LPM of
hydroxy to remove all those deposits. Preignition from "hot spots" or
glow plugs has been noted as a problem.

With the value of the engines under test, a go slow approach is
manditory. I will not put a booster on my 330HP CAT worth $25,000 to
save $500 or so over 5 years! I may if that savings was for one month!

The difficulty on big rigs for me is I no longer understand the
adjustment limitations. If you can change the injection timing like
we used to do by "turning the pump" it would be simple. Now they tell
me it is a different ball game!

Have fun,

Mike Angerstein

it is a holding circuit. the output of this relay controls the relay for the booster. the circuit however, does not get energized until the push button is pressed. so no.... you are not sending 20 amps directly to a booster.
