Collisions ? like a road crash? -- Of waves ? well its a subject I guess well considered already . could you help me visulise the difference between 'collision' and 'heterodyne' so that we might meet and shake hands amicably ?
There are huge omissions I can see but first there's Mr Fourier to by - pass (transformed or not) isn't there? He was busy with this in between chopping heads off in France . collision ? there's truth in that too ! In what order ? what collides with what ? Uber efficient water fracture lives on this avenue !
what isn't a sine wave must be a co sine and visa versa (infinitesimal mathematics).

I would like to explore inside a tuned cavity filter.
I want to point to the adjustable capacitor plates.
The velocity is a function of gap size.
The cavity dimensions help tune desired frequency.
The "Q" of a tuned circuit is a measure of how sharply it
attenuates unwanted signals.
Cavity filters can have Q factor in thousands.

Not always obvious by just looking at an electrical equivalent schematic.

Suppose you had a small crystal oscillator
If you look in the box it might be clear about the velocity in the gaps.
The extreme Q can shape the wave. Purify wave structure.
Maybe send the ex-foliate to the ground or recycle it into a circulator (that could use heterodyne action)
add an antenna set up electro-smog barriers.

Looking inside a simple cavity filter.
