It will have the capability to have all the (+) plates active or only half of them, and so also for the (-) plates.
Between each (+) and (-) plate there will be a (N).
A total of 25 plates
6 X (+)
6 X (-)
13 X (N)
I am wondering how close I can make my gap between plates?
I am under the impression that the closer the better????
Now if this is true WHAT IS TO CLOSE.

Generally 1/8th inch, thats what I use, but it differs with prefference. Since this is going to be a Non Series cell the closer the better. And in a Booster of the type you are talking about 1/8th inch is as close as you can "Safely" get uniformly.
I would imagine you are talking about an "Archie Blue" Style correct? Why the 2" Hole? Instead do a true Archie type with Perf or drill out your plates and make your own perf.
Trust me solid plates don't work well on the "Archie Style" This happens to be my favorite type and I have built many modified versions.
