Jennifer Hoskins gives an advance preview of the latest film from Sacred Mysteries Productions set to take spiritual cinema circles by storm. Hello 2012! It won’t be long now – just five years away. That is when the Mayan calendar ends. How are you travelling? What does it all mean? Here is a timely and enjoyable odyssey across the United States by author Sharron Rose. Well known for her delightful book The Path of the Priestess, Sharron Rose takes us on a metaphysical tour of time, space, philosophy and spirituality. As she travels she interviews some of the most influential spiritual teachers of our time, including Jose Arguelles, Gregg Braden, John Major Jenkins, Rick Levine, Jay Weidner as well as many others. The big questions are concerned with the end of time as we know it, what is going to happen to us, and how these things are recorded in ancient prophecy. Sharron Rose lives and works in the Pacific Northwest of the US and has spent much time close to nature and the workings of the earth in the beautiful forests there. But even there she sees signs of change. With all the information about the importance of the year 2012 in our planet’s development being disseminated, she decides to make a trip all over the country by car, to find out what ancient prophecies might mean for our future. It is a real treat to see and hear such genuinely wise people have their say in such an intimate way. I was immediately engaged with the whole idea of Sharron’s odyssey. The filming is smooth and cinematically pretty, with the landscapes moving along with Sharron’s travels. As is common with the Sacred Mysteries productions, there are a lot of scene links with time-lapse clouds hurrying about to the accompaniment of music and Sharron’s voice-over. There are also a lot of talking heads, but the wisdom and eminence of the interviewees overcomes this. The information level is high, and the dedicated viewer will want to watch or listen to this film several times. There are several highlights that are not to be missed. The first is the visit to see the Georgia Guidestones. This remarkable monument was erected in 1980 outside a small town in Georgia. The group that commissioned it is mysterious and the message contained on these huge granite monoliths is amazing. It is like a modern-day Stonehenge. The Guidestones are aligned in a precise way with the Sun, Moon and stars and have a new ‘Decalogue’ engraved in eight modern languages. The capstone has carvings in four ancient languages. Before watching this work, I had never heard of this monument, but now have the Guidestones on my list to visit! Another highlight was Sharron’s meeting with a group of Incan elders who travelled to the US to spread their message of the end times and how people need to prepare. This film is very upbeat and hopeful about the changes on the planet that have been prophesied, and are occurring right now and due to culminate in 2012. Yes, the Mayan calendar is ending then, but it is more to herald a different and new time for our existence. It will be, and already is, a time of opportunity for mankind. While there seems to be a current atmosphere of fatalistic predestination attached to the ending of the Mayan calendar, the truth is that what you take from this singular opportunity is truly up to you as an individual. watched the movie
Just watched 2012 The Odyssey night before last and it was pretty informative. Most of it was very sensible and even stressing most likely how the magical date will be a non-event.
There are real astrological correlations to the date but the impact that we will observe is subject to many different ideas. I agree with what was said by some that mankind is already going through a paradigm shift in consciousness and have been for quite some time.
