Right brain vs left brain
This is a fascinating visual I just came across: Delicate Genius Blog » Left brain/right brain optical illusion
Which way do you see the dancer moving? Clockwise or counter-clockwise? You can also make her change direction  After looking at her move for a few seconds, look at the graphic on the right side of the screen and then look back at the dancer. You will probably find she is spinning clockwise. Now scroll down the page until you reach the point you cannot see her and look at some text. Or, if you have a book handy, look at a page with no pictures and then look back at the dancer. She will now appear to be moving counter-clockwise. How cool is that???

Very cool... it works!
The Right Brain vs Left Brain test … do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise? If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.  The animation of course is looped. It seems that I can perceive a different spin direction at will depending on where I perceive the animation starting. From beginning to end or from middle to middle again. Each is different.

I get what is supposed to happen here but I can only see this one way, clockwise.
I can't at all figure how others are seeing this anti-clockwise  I'm also stumped by some of the comments. One says the figure does not show clear fronts and backs. Uh, I think we can all tell by her anatomy. Another says the middle foot does not turn, only goes up and down. It looks like it turns to me. I also thought I was more left brained, but I think seeing it clockwise is supposed to demonstrate otherwise. Jessica Last edited by future pather : 11-26-2007 at 06:55 PM.

shadow trick
Look at the shadow of the toes pointed out...shadow hugging the bottom of the picture. As you're looking at that, in your peripheral, you can more easily see the dancer above going in a different direction.

hmmm...
Jennifer, I am seriously right brained! I have always been right brained! I struggle with left brain tasks immensely... You said that you saw it turning clockwise = right brain, but you are more left brain oriented... I saw it anti clockwise = left brain oriented... so not sure how accurate a test it is then! Like you I could not reverse it, although I am very tired and feeling a little slow today, not feeling to creative! But if feelings can skew the test then it really is not very accurate! IMHO  It was funny because the list below that described individuals right and left brained I fit to a T the right brained individual totally and completely... All you have to do is look at my drawings and you will know I am not a left brained person... Even my artistic style screams right brained... So I personally would not put too weight on this test! IMHO Well that is my two cents worth... LOL! Blessings Sj zartgirl

Thanks for posting this Pammie!
 I originally saw her clockwise and then she started going counterclockwise. I sat there looking at her go and decided I wanted to see her go the other way, and after a few seconds, she switched! I saw that for a bit and then switched her to go the other way. So cool!!! So here she is going clockwise and I showed it to my dad and he saw her going counterclockwise as I was seeing her go clockwise. Then he saw her go the other way and a few seconds later she switched for me. That was even cooler. To have two people seeing the dancer at the same time and looking at her dance in a different direction! ~Viviana

 LOL!Has anyone studied the book about using the right side of your brain for drawing? I was terrible at drawing before I studied that book. I'm a lot better now. It teaches you to draw what is really there, rather than, say, a circle for a face or a square for a house. One of the first exercises was to crumple up a piece of paper and draw it. Jessica

This is really cool making her go one way then the other, I also notice if I waved my hand in front of the computer screen she would reverse directions
 .... But, don't you guys think she might be getting kind of cold with all that spinning and wearing only her birthday suit?
