  • The width of the index pages

Some time this year it seemed like the width of the index sections had changed. The left hand column is narrower. The writing in each box/ section of the left hand side, now requires more lines to supply the text. That creates more scrolling to reach down the page. If you have a look at the following attachments (i am not sure if it will show up in the window, or if you need to click on it to see the pictures), it will better reveal what i am trying to explain.

There are two pictures of the whole desktop.
-The tool bar that most people have on the bottom of the screen, i have actually moved to the left; that is one picture.
-The other picture shows the more conventional toolbar on the bottom of the screen. I have provided the two pictures to show that although there is a slight improvement by having the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, it is not much difference, and that the left column is still rather narrow.
There seems to be a bit of space in the middle column that is wasted, yet the left hand column is quite a bit squashed.

The resolution of the screen is set at 1280 x 1024 and i have not changed it, so i speculating that the change occurred at the forum side rather than my computer. I imagine my screen resolution may be exaggerating the column squashing.

Would it be a big ask to request a consideration of re adjustments to a point that does not compromise other users, but also improves the 16% ( What is my screen resolution/display resolution? - Screen resolution statistics ) of people on the 1280 to 1024 resolution?

Is there anything else i can do other than compromising or going backwards on my screen resolution?

It is not a major issues, but i thought i would put it forward here.

    Thanks

    width of forum

    Hi Alsy,

I'm not sure why it does that. I forwarded the message on.

I use 1280x800 on my computer and as far as width goes, it doesn't take as much space per row as your pics show. It even looks pretty normal if I reduce the browser width so that it compensates for the space you have on the left side from your taskbar.

Anyway, we'll see if any possibilities show up.
    Sincerely,
    Aaron Murakami

Within a few days of posting this thread, i noticed the new changes that made for a much easier viewing of the index to the different sections of the forum. It is times like that that one feels like like this fellow .

I had delayed posting due to the strange anomalies of the screen narrowing back to how i described previously. That happened after logging in. I wanted to test it on another operating system, but had not managed to get around to it.
In the mean time, i was dealing with it by not logging in. I was ok with that.
Today, i logged in, and it does not have that anomaly of narrowing during the log in. The index pages in the now much more readable in the wider format. The little things in life to about.

Aaron, and to anyone else who was involved in making the forum more readable. Much appreciated.
