Today I started playing around with the Kill-a-Watt. I tested my oil heater at 1500 W just to see how much it would cost me for a month.
Results
4 hours 40 min
6.44 KW
--------------------
So... per minute.
240 + 40 = 280 min
280 /60 = 4.67 hours
So 6.44KW / 4.67 = 1.38KW Per hour.
So for a day...
33.12KW * .08 cents or $2.64 per day. or $79.2 per month.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Also I found that my TV plugged turned OFF consumed 5 Watts of power, my fancy speakers consumed 7 watts ( Turned off with the switch )
So putting these on a power strip with a flip switch will save a bunch I did not know I was spending.
I thought I would pass this info along for those of you who have electronic items that are plugged in but not used but once a month, well worth the time to either put in a power strip with an on off, or plug them in, that is some free energy, and $ in your pocket. I am so glad I listened to Peter and got this new toy he he.
