forelle, You didn`t say what type of material you were using for plates. I can only speak about 316 low carbon stainless. First, 5% NAOH is a little low. I would not be afraid to double that, or even more. Secondly, I don`t know the construction of your cell so care should be taken to not overheat or possibly warp components of the cell. That being said I`ve found it takes some bubbling action to cleanse properly. Myself I have not seen much green muck. A little black mostly brown slime in golden yellow water. Your white flakes are most likely calcium from poorly processed distilled water. Some water sold as distilled is no more than R.O. Finally cleansing can take up to a week. Not a day or two. You just cleanse till it gets clear. Now conditioning is an other story. This is done slowly at much lower amps. Some say no more than 2 amps to insure thin layers of dielectric oxide build up. Hope this helps.
