Question
What if a cap is bad? Can you really tell if it’s almost shot?
I am pondering the event in the cap dump circuit.

Here is an example of what BroMikey
was warning the other forum members about. One of the magnets became a projectile. This is why my build is outside, for testing and safety. The last photo has a newly glued replacement magnet in the pre-existing shell.

Backup Rotor
This unmodified rotor runs but does not charge like the other.
The led lights up, hmmm, what circuit is it completing? Anyone want to trace my schematic and find out why?

Another Circuit?
I have used elementary building
techniques to make junk work together. Now I am looping back to the run circuit. How? I have photos!!! Simple example!! I am going to study the circuits involved and make the proper adjustments.

WR3 - YouTube
Something for the voyeurs to gawk at. My naturally occurring obnoxious adzwhole beauty. Haaa...ha, y’all. This is not my camera work. I just try to explain different items with sound. I am using my WR3 for the sound.

Schematic
The latest version of schematic.
C1 should be 20,000 microfarads 32 volts dc. It is because one cap released the magic smoke that makes disgusting toxins.

not that hard if you watch current closely as you charge a cap you can see. what kind of test hardware do you have ?

Test equipment
I have a broken multimeter.
I have a WR-3. That’s it. I have to use real math for schematic layouts. The cap question was for some local people. Thanks Spacecase0

Lubrication
The stock bearings are noisy.
Instead of buying and removing the old bearing, which is a hassle, I experimented with lubes. First it was dritz oil with zoom spout, then virgin coconut oil, then crisco and then black moly grease. I am now trying graphite with dritz oil. Just pencil lead is what I am using. It runs smooth and a whole lot quieter than usual. It even allows faster spinning over any other that I have tried. I will see how long it works.

Heat Shrink
To help keep your magnets in place and from becoming projectiles,
use heat shrink tubing from a place like ULINE. The five inch 200 gauge tube is a roll of shrink tubing that is usually for wrapping items for commercial applications. I do have an account with them so I used a sample that was sent.

Maybe two
I am currently using two layers for protection because one is not thick enough.

Some scope shots
Photos of various waveforms from the different coils.
You will see the effects of my magnet arrangement. Enjoy.

Now some shots after I put black moly in the bearings.
It smooths out the spurious waveforms and allows the truth to be seen. The top two are of the middle coil. The third is one half of the alternator. The last is the collector from the heatsink.

The photos are before rectification has occurred.
Just plain old alternating current? What do you men see happening across the middle coil? The rotor is as much centered as possible by hand/eye. The middle of the rotor is nsnsns.... The top row is nnnnnnn... The bottom row is sssssss..... The photos reflect this arrangement of pyramid stacking of magnets. Red magnets are south. Black magnets are north.

So how many coils? Does 1 core cover all the magnets top to bottom
or will there be many many coils, one for each row? The shrink job is nice. Looks like your gaps will be 3/16" using this method which is fine. Some motors run 100-300 rpm's like a Bedini pulse motor. Or are you going to run 3600 rpm's? With those magnets you have and they look like strong ones you'll be able to pass some flux to cores. Any ideas on winding up a coil?

The reason I built this cluster of crappe was to wait for my coils and such to come in the mail. I took broken used stuff from past builds to assemble an sg Bedini to keep busy and just surround the rotor with coils I found and another I wrapped freehand to demonstrate concepts to onlookers how it doesn’t have to be perfect or expensive to make a battery charger. This was an opportunity to show a different magnet arrangement for its output on the scope and the energies from different coils. It is open for learning and teaching with beginners and experienced members or guests.

Of the two scope shots of the clean version,
the shorter spikes are the result of the coil area that is getting magnetic flux in the opposite direction from the longer spikes. In that area of exposure the wires are wrapped in the opposite way to correctly induce electromotive force efficiently.

Hard to see foe toes, is that a 1/4" gap? Getting any readings?

The gap? I really don’t know but about that maybe a little smaller.

Little Spring
I have not seen or heard DadHav talk about the housing
or other components associated with this type of rotor. There is a flat, thin washer type spring that goes in the top before the top bearings. It is a necessary component for proper operation. When the top and bottom bearings run, the tiny space the spring supplies is critical for smoooooth running and sound suppression. Top view Bottom view

![]() ![]() 1/32 gap at the corner of the magnet yes and 3/16" in the center. ![]() Nice try.

I don’t know now if it’s 36 or more magnets,
I’ll have to recount. No hanging chads to interfere with this election of freedom.
