Dental work comming, Need advice!

Hello all, just like to pick your brains for a bit. Me and the wife got our tax return back so its time to go in for some rather major dental work for myself. Since my wisdom teeth came in, it's been a mess in the back of my mouth. The two lower teeth are slightly impacted into the gums due to crowding. Normally this doesn't cause too many problems, but occasionally partials get lodged between the tooth and gums causing pain and swelling. I use a water pick for just those occasions. Still, I'd like to get those removed. The two upper ones are just as troublesome. Do to the position, they are hard to get to in order to do any repair, I had one filled a while back and it reopened in the same place. My other tooth has a huge cavity that has been steadily growing.

Needless to say, its time to take those puppies out. For myself however, I'd rather stay away from any nasty drugs or pain killers after the fact, as well as to speed healing as quickly as possible. What say you oh repository of natural healing knowledge and experience?

Hi Ehwaz,
Have you looked into Oil Pulling? I have recently started doing that myself, and it is suppose to be good for keeping the teeth healthy.
Oil Pulling Cures is a website I found that has quite a bit of info about oil pulling.

Other than that, I did have my wisdom teeth removed several years ago - 2 were impacted also. But once I got passed the first day or two, healing commenced very easily and swiftly. I just had to eat soft foods, etc. for a few days. Remember that you can help yourself heal! Picture yourself and your mouth bathed in white light and direct your energies toward healing your mouth.

Thanks for the website (Wilderness Family Naturals) - I am going to order some of their products relating to detoxification. I have been working on the parasite issue and it looks like they have good product and lots of information.
I really value this forum for some of the valuable info I get from some very knowledgeable folks.

I couldn't hold down whatever pain killer they gave me. It was pretty gross to figure that out with all the gauze and stuff going on in my mouth. I did not try taking any more of that drug once I had that experience. I think they gave me vicodin or something like it. I've never been able to keep anything like that down since, even after major foot surgery involving reset bones. I just went to 3 Advil and did ok. I know Advil is not exactly natural, lol. But I'm just letting you know you can probably get by without the major drugs.

Also I have a PATHS client on the pain reduction module for a shoulder problem and it is working like aces for her. Maybe you'd wanna try that before taking anything?

XO Jessica

Jamie:

I spent some time reading about Oil Pulling today. Definitely worth a try.
I did so three times today. I know you are supposed to keep the oil in your mouth until it turns white yet I spent 20 minutes each time (couldnt hack it any longer) and the oil was still somewhat yellow. Not sure if I am doing something wrong.

I am going to keep this up. The testimonials are all pretty amazing.
My teeth are already looking whiter!
thanks for the great tip.

Oil Pulling

Hi Jamie,

Can you tell any difference with this? Have you seen references for other oils besides sunflower or sesame oil? I saw testimonials for olive oil but that wasn't recommended in the instructions.

I tried the oil pulling once, long enough to realize that the unpleasant nature of it was still a bit much to overcome. I had a hard time not gagging when I did it. Still, I was already planning on using this after the surgery, whenever that may be.

I browsed the website for a while getting an idea of what was up with this, according to this guy it pulls things out of your mouth like heavy metals, bacteria, all sorts of nasties get drawn into the oil and at the end you spit it all out. Don't know how effective this is, but people there seem to swear by it.

Web site that I have found VERY helpful

What I like about it, it gives results from REAL people, and not the statistics the drug companies give you, gathered from their "Victums" who were paid to take the drug.

Low Energy Cures

I am using these methods first, with also the book "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" before I even begin to have a doctor prescribe me medicine.

As I heard from a Chinese doctor practicioner, our doctors have wonderful testing methods ( the labs are great to find the problem ) the problem is how they treat it.

Also, I would recomend looking for a Naturalpathic dentist, those who do not use mercury... if you haven't already.

I think you are supposed to "chew" at the oil to make it turn white.

(I tried this once and found it gross feeling so I haven't pursued it, lol. I am, however, taking garlic oil pills (or garlic oil + parsley oil when I can find those) after meals and finding them quite nice on my digestion. I'm not sure if this is a form of "oil pulling" or not.)

Here are a couple of other things you can do for teeth and gum health-

The QXCI-SCIO machines have some really good therapies for teeth and gums

Essential Mineral drops are very effective at killing unwanted bacteria in the body (including in and on the teeth and gums).

xylitol toothpaste

The only toothpaste I use is SPRY - it is a xylitol based toothpaste. Xylitol is a sugar that actually prevents cavities. Also, chewing xylitol gum after meals is very beneficial.

Spry is from the Xlear company:
XlearINC: Quality Xylitol Products

Beware of big commercial companies capitalizaing on the xylitol name and in addition to that they add poisonous aspartame, regular SUGAR for flavor and other nasty stuff like industrial floor wax compounds, etc...and of course poisonous sodium fluoride...there is enough naturally occurring calcium fluoride in any healthy diet. I'd recommend Spry and other brands that you can find at locally owned health food stores...beware of big chains.

I also gagged a bit the first few times I tried this. I then started with only 1/2 Tablespoon and worked my way up in quantity and time until now, it's usually not a problem.

I have read of some people using coconut oil, olive oil, etc. but for some reason they recommend the sesame or sunflower oil the most. I have no idea why.

I've been doing this about 3 weeks now. I've noticed that my tongue is very pink and healthy, my gums are too. I think my teeth have whitened up some and my sinuses seem to be doing better. Warning: The first week that I did this, I had a lot of mucus to blow and spit out. But that's been a really good thing for me - living in a bowl that collects allergens like Nashville does has taken it's toll on me and I'm very appreciative of anything that can help clear out my sinuses.

I'll let you guys know what other things I notice as time goes on.

oh and one more Great thing I've noticed! It really does give you an energy boost in the morning. I am NOT a morning person and it often takes me a good hour to slowly wake up and feel human. But now my routine has been: get up, brush teeth, oil pull, then go on with my day and I've noticed that the rest of my morning goes smoothly. I'm awake, I'm focused, and energized. Again, this is so weird to me! I can't imagine that sitting with oil in my mouth for 10 minutes can do that, but it does.
