Naked Chef Changing The World

Ok I figured that title would get some attention, lol.

Jamie Oliver is a Chef who used to have a show about cooking with raw ingredients called "The Naked Chef."

Lately he has been working hard and doing brilliant things to change the entire landsape of the school lunch system in London.

I have seen some of the show about it and it is very moving. It told how children there for the first time are not predicted to outlive their parents and it is directly linked to what they are eating.

Here is some of what has come out of Jamie's tireless work :

"And after a huge campaign, newspaper headlines and delivering a 300,000-signature petition, Tony Blair agreed to set new standards for school meals, and committed £280 million for proper ingredients, equipment and training."

The campaign continues:

They had to bleep out quite a bit of the first episodes. Jamie is a very reasonable guy but could not help from letting certain words escape his lips when he realized what kind of budget the schools were dealing with, etc.

It was heartbreaking to see him labor to come up with something healthy even near the budget - and then see only one middle school kid choose the food and later state he would not choose it again.

Jamie got very smart then and went to the youngest kids, dressing up like Barney and singing songs about healthy food and getting the kids involved in the preparation.

He is an inspiration to us all!
