  • homemade lead acid battery

    Hi all!

Ok I am on a mission! I have started a lead acid battery project. What i have done so far..

    1) Made a plate mold, poured my own plates out of pure leads. (mold needs redesigned)

    2) used 3 pos and 3 neg plates. made a single 2.2v cell.

    3) charged with a 4.5v 350ma transformer to 3v and reversed polarity 3 times, in "used" acid sg 1.120.

    4) washed in distilled water and placed in new acid, sg 1.265

Pos plates turned a dark red/rust color... Is that normal?

What else do i need to do to this to start getting a usable cell out of it?

OH YEA, if anyone has success stories on homemade lead acid batteries I am all EARS!
Working...
