    Hi all,

    I am looking into the photonics behind growing algae. I am trying to connect the dots between the light requirements & energy balance of photosynthesis:

    6H20 + 6CO2 + 48γ -> C6H12O6 + 6O2

    ΔHr = 2802 kJ per mol of glucose

    8 mol γ per 1 mol CO2

    E = 217 kJ per mol of photons (at 550nm, the average between 400-700nm).

    Some of my questions are:

    How much of this energy comes from light?

    How can I calculate this mass-energy exchange?

    How can I get from this energy requirement to an irradiance requirement?

    Basically, I want to know how much light will grow a certain amount of algae (the mass-energy balance/transfer). Thanks!

    mmm... i read in other Thread 12 hours of lighting, and i think need the light of sun, or ecuivalent in artificial lighting, i think 600 w for 1 m2, but dipend from tipe of lighting if are led or other.
    how is the life of spirulina? how she increase ? how time need to make double ?
