  • MAYBE some researchers here would be wise to follow up on this...

6 or 7 years ago Jonathan and I TRV'ed what would be the optimum replacement for fossil fuels.

Here is an excerpt from Rush Limbaugh today-

"Big Oil, now, you know what Big Oil is doing? Big Oil is running around investigating in pond scum. There's another name for pond scum. It's called algae. But Big Oil wants to be players at the table here, you know, Obama's got everybody scared to death. Big Oil is looking into the possibility that pond scum will provide some sort of new energy. I've got the story here in the stack."

Here is a link to an article from 7 days ago-

Gene scientist to create algae biofuel with Exxon Mobil | Environment | guardian.co.uk

"Gene scientist Craig Venter has announced plans to develop next-generation biofuels from algae in a $600m (£370m) partnership with oil giant Exxon Mobil....."

Here is a link to some of the data we got 6+ years ago-

    http://www.energeticforum.com/psychi...ture-fuel.html

"We got algae, green goo, big pools of bubbling pond scum, feeding it, then killing or almost killing it

There was much more to it than that, but it all came down to algae, big huge pools of it....."

I know the attraction of radiant electricity and hydrogen generation via various methodologies, but the TRV data is probably worth looking into.

    ED Dames

Ed Dames has talked on Art Bell's show about
chlorella being the "future" food source.
After the issue with the Sun, and crops being wiped out,
chlorella will be grown in vats as a food source.

So if you are seeing this via TRV for fuel, there seems
to be similar data from Ed Dames crowd as a food.

All accurate TRV data on a subject will be similar. There is only one matrix/collective consciousness and the data is the data.

I am familiar with the TRV data that chlorella/green goo is a more significant food source in the future than it is now.

The data about algae being THE OPTIMUM replacement for fossil fuels is data that refers to the current time.

Of course, optimum means that it is the best, it does NOT mean that people will choose the best path to follow and actually make algae a replacement for fossil fuel.

History is littered with less than optimum choices.

You have to clarify the term OPTIMUM here.
Is it OPTIMUM for the planet earth? Optimum in terms of energy production?
Is it OPTIMUM for human health?
Its certainly not OPTIMUM for the algae, which might prefer just
        living in a pond.

          Hi Kevin,

Ever since I saw this back about a year (or is it two?) ago, I've wondered about that TRV data. But if the question was simply 'optimum replacement for fossil fuels' then I guess it makes sense as there seems to me to be much more promising technology for driving (pun unintentional, I swear!) machinery.

Is this indeed what the question was?

I am no expert on this subject, and only a novice RV practictioner, however it is not that hard for me to see a planet with an atmosphere that has been over exposed to solar radiation and embodied in an over abundance of CO2, encased in a green house-like enviornment in which algea could form in large abundance, and conventional crops would fail miserably.
Once again, i am no expert.
However, if these were the conditions of the earth, than algea could and very likely would be the optimum alternative for both food and fuel.

              Optimum=Best

The target being researched was what is optimum replacement for fossil fuel, taking the planet, the efficacy of the fuel, and people (which would include their health) into consideration.

Yes, the target being researched was what is the optimum replacement for fossil fuel, taking the planet, the efficacy of the fuel, and people into consideration.

On other factor was a time consideration...I believe, but cannot say for sure, that we gave it a time frame of "next 10 years", and this was about 7 years ago now.

A few more thoughts on the subject---

Just because something is best does not mean it ever comes to pass....or it may come to pass, but not in the optimum (best) time frame.

I have seen many times where a person or company was given their "optimum trajectory/course of action", and then they chose a different course. (this is not always the case, in fact, most times people choose to follow their optimum).

When TRVing, the constraints are such that the "target" being researched must be narrowly defined, and the resultant data is usually confined to the narrow question. So unless there is follow up TRV work done, while the original question was answered, it (the answer to the original question) may bring up more questions!

We did not do any follow up on this. It was a blind target we did, just for grins, giggles and practice.

It has been my experience that when there is corroborated data (like there was in this case) it can be trusted. It may take months or years to prove out, but I have never seen it disproved.

So I'm wondering how it could be used as a replacement fuel.
It would need to be refined in some way which will take energy.
Is it converted into a form that is liquid and burns in a
traditional combustion engine -- or must the engine too change?
Or is it used to produce methane gas?

Do you have a further sense of HOW it would be used as a fuel ... or
                  can this question be TRVed?

a little critter that produces hydrogen

I learned from my wife that there was recently a program
on TV describing researchers who have found a little ocean
creature (microscopic) that expels hydrogen as a waste product.

"This little critter, an algae, can make hydrogen from water and sunlight. Imagine a pond with a transparent cover for collecting the hydrogen that bubbles from great colonies of algae. It is also possible to design a device that is somewhat like a photocell that produces hydrogen instead of electricity. Both methods are far from practical but they hold promise."

                        Hydrogen for Transport

                        Wow!

                          It's just about here, Kev

Consol Energy receives $1M to test new carbon capture tech. Is carbon algae capture next?

Consol Energy has received $1 million from the state to test a new carbon capture technology that could revolutionize the way greenhouse gases are returned to the environment.

Consol invited key state and local leaders to tour the nation's first test carbon capture plant near South Park on Tuesday. "This has opened up a great opportunity to use fuel to clean up the environment," said John Hanger, secretary of the DEP.

The process partners a pressured fluid bed combustion boiler from PFBC Environmental Energy Technology in Monessen with a carbon-capture system created by Sweden-based Sargas Inc. The boiler burns the waste coal to provide energy for power plants and the carbon capture system stores the carbon dioxide. A plant in Sweden using this new design captured a minimum of 95 percent of the CO2 emission while almost eliminating the nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide.

While the first phase of the project will include capturing the carbon dioxide and sequestering it into geologic storage space underground, the company is also considering the feasibility of a new approach, an algae photobioreactor, which takes captured carbon dioxide to produce algae for pharmaceuticals, food, bio-plastics, biofuels and fertilizer.

"This process returns CO2 to its terrestrial origin, a critical piece to the mitigation of atmospheric oxygen," said Jake Blehm, operations director for the Rodale Institute, a non-profit research institute in Kutztown that is working with Consol to consider captured carbon to produce rich fertilizers for farming.

Atlanta-based Green Bios Technology displayed its algae photobioreactor technology, a system designed to be retrofitted to flue stacks.

"The great green hope is to create a product that's good for the environment," said Daniel Desmond of Peregrine Technology Partners, an advocate of the photobioreactor approach. "There's a whole raft of things we can do to make the capture of carbon profitable. We can intercept the carbon that's heating up our atmosphere and use it to replenish the soil."

At first I thought they were kind of nuts when I heard about the possibility of storing sequestered CO2 locally but if they put it to use that makes total sense.
