To answer the original question are people getting dumber the answer is yes. The next question is why? Well we have an elite group of people, well at least they think that they are better then everyone else, and they believe that they have the right to rule the world and we are their slaves.
Here is a little history that starts to explain why we are at where we are today. This is the agenda as stated by William Torrey Harris, US Commissioner of Education (1889 to 1906)

He believed children were property and the state had a compelling interest in disposing of them as it pleased. Some would receive intellectual training, most not. Any distinction that can be made between Harris and later weak-curriculum advocates (those interested in stupefaction for everyone) is far less important then substantial agreement in both camps that parents or local tradition could no longer determine the individual child’s future.
Looks like his plan been a smashing success!

Naturally us slaves are not suppose to be smart enough to question our master orders because that leads to all sorts of problems for them. Thus we need to be dumbed down so we are unable to ask any embarrassing questions. Here is an another interesting quote that us sheeple are not supposed to be aware of:

This reform is not new. It started in the early 1900s when John D. Rockefeller, Jr.’s Director of Charity for the Rockefeller Foundation, Frederick T. Gates, set up the Southern Education Board. In 1913 the organization was incorporated into the General Education Board. These boards set in motion “the deliberate dumbing down of America”. In Frederick T. Gates’ “The Country School of Tomorrow” Occasional Papers No. 1 (General Education Board, New York, 1913) was a section entitled “A Vision of the Remedy” in which he wrote:

“Is there aught a remedy for this neglect of rural life? Let us, at least, yield ourselves to the gratifications of a beautiful dream that there is. In our dream, we have limitless resources, and the people yield themselves with perfect docility to our moulding hand. The present educational conventions fade from our minds; and unhampered by tradition, we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive rural folk. We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning or of science. We are not to raise up from among them authors, orators, poets, or men of letters. We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians. Nor will we cherish even the humbler ambition to raise up from among them lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen, of whom we now have ample supply.”
The from the “Army Admissions Tests”
    illiteracy in:
    1900’s was 2%
    1940’s it was 4%
    1950’s it raised to 19%.
    1970’s it climbed to 27%.

It would seem that our current education system is working just the way they planed it.

Many people have been conditioned to think that what happened two weeks ago is ancient history and anything that might happen two week from now is way to far in the future to worry about. Yet these so called “elite” have a slightly longer time frame. As you can see their planning goes on for years, even decades in advance.

They have long envisioned a two class society, with them the elite on top and everyone else as a virtual slave to supply them with all their needs. Of course that was not likely to happen if there is an informed and educated populace. Thus they set about this degrading the quality of the public school system. Naturally this was done in the name of fairness for everyone. Thus everyone is entitled to and should preferably be forced to be publicly educated. Then the standards to graduate were then systematically reduced for everyone, that way we will not hurt someone’s feelings by saying they are smart enough to graduate.

As a result back then in the 1900’s most people were quite literate and able to read and write fluently. Today about one in three people are functionally illiterate.

So where does that leave us? Well everything you have been taught, everything you know or think you know about the history of the world, religion, politics, etc. much of it is probably wrong. Thus it is time to take of the blinders and start seeing the world as it really is. The truth will set you free, but first it is going to really piss you off.

I like it, but poor Mr.Tesla died alone with no money to his name.
Poor Mr. Tesla? He realized his dreams. Later in life he gave up his public persona in favor of virtually unlimited funding to deliver exotic technologies to the American military machine.

        The peter principle

says that "individuals in a hierarchy tend to be promoted to their level of incompetence, and there they stay". He also pointed out, this Principle can apply to EVERYONE in the hierarchy, even the individual at the top.
For instance, and individual starts a business. Initially, its just them, and maybe their spouse. Eventually, they are able to hire employess, and they are successful, and so the business grows. But, at a certain point, they 'promote themselves' to their level of incompetence; they could manage a business with "X" # of employees, but not 2,3,5 ot 10 times "X".
Now, apply the peter principle to the hierarchy of SPECIES: We humans have effectively 'promoted ourselves' to our level of incompetence; but, will we just 'stay' there, or is there ANOTHER 'principle' (that of 'survival of the fittest', that will come into play?

Remember, the Egyptians who built the pyramids also believed the brain was just an organ, for cooling the blood, and was of no importance. So, when they mummified there leaders, (the IDEA, remember, was for them to be 're-constituted' atr some point in the future) they put other organs in jars, to preserve them, but just removed the brains, and threw them away.

Incredible ingenuity and incredible stupidity, at the same time; THATS 'modern' civilised man!

Been on this earth for 100,000-200,000 years, and yet archeologists say 'civilisation' has only existed for 10-14,000 years. They define civilisation as when man stopped being hunter gatherers, and started staying in 1 location.
We WERE at our 'peak'; we were at the height of our competence, until we made this one, crucial decision, to stop being hunter gatherers. All SORTSof 'uncivilised' behaviors derive directly from this decision to 'become civilised' i.e. to stop being hunter gatherers. War, strife, poverty, employment, competition, class division, increasing population, living in large communities (you can't be very effective as H/G/ers, if your group has 10,000 individuals), the whole system which has evolved where each individual is at the end of a looooong supply chain, for which they are dependent for their 'necessities'. And the list of 'necesities' has grown exponentially, as well.

Collapse of 'civilisation' IS coming, and needed. But trying to build a 'new' civilisation will result in the same mess, again. No one wants to do it, but living as hunter/gatherers, is the way for man to be at his level of competence. In a H/G society, every kid of 6-8 knew how to supply themselves with all their necessities. Co-operation was the 'watchword', rather than competition. No $, no 'bills', and only those possesions you could carry (G.Carlin on 'Stuff!', right on!).

Very few will willingly 'give up' the 'benefits' of our current 'civilisation', and deliberately adopt a H/G lifestyle. Only when forced; the 'homeless' may well be the ones who are ahead of their time, and where the rest of us who survive the coming cataclism/collapse will end up.Luckily, there are LOTS of shopping carts, so no worries, eh? No civilization has so-thoroughly deserved having its introverts & visionaries turn their back on it, as this one...

            Hello,

Thankfully the thread was titled as a question. I don't think anyone frequenting these pages is qualified to ask nor answer this question. Its difficult not making a mess when throwing stones in a glass house. With that said, I agree with Shanjaq. We have turned our backs on the visionaries, and it wouldn't surprise me if one day they all just vanished, leaving us here to wallow in our ignorance. To which men and women is he referring specifically is the most logical question, and I will just throw up one name. Its one that not many are familiar with, hell, I wasn't as familiar with this genius and his work as I probably should have been. His name was Gabrial Kron, and he had the following to say:

“...the missing concept of "open-paths" (the dual of "closed-paths") was discovered, in which currents could be made to flow in branches that lie between any set of two nodes. (Previously — following Maxwell — engineers tied all of their open-paths to a single datum point, the 'ground'). That discovery of open-paths established a second rectangular transformation matrix... which created 'lamellar' currents...”

“A network with the simultaneous presence of both closed and open paths was the answer to the author's years-long search.”

Is it possible that hes explaining whats taking place in this demonstration? Youtube link below...

There is alot of baseless, talk on these forums...and even more pointless experimentation, major replication efforts in areas where all one is provided with is an unproven incoherent theory, and all this in areas where it is established fact that there is nothing there...reminds me of a cool quote..

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

            Albert Einstein

Kron was a man of vision, and had his work been a focus of some of our attention we might have found some pretty interesting things.....maybe...how many of you have seen this on your bench?

            Sine to Square - YouTube

Does Kron's work explain what I'm seeing here? Maybe, maybe not....

Lets not waste any time questioning the mental condition of anyone. Directing our attention on a lower level, fixes you to that level while you're observing it...so by calling them dumb, you become dumb.....my opinion...lift your fellow man up.

            Regards
