Harbin has been a community/business since 1975. You can look us up at Harbin Hot Springs - Retreat & Workshop Center. This is where aquatic bodywork was birthed and the reason I moved here in 1996. There are 6 warm pools to work in and a HOT pool (usually around 113 degrees F) 2 cold plunges (around 55F) and a steam and dry sauna. We have a restaurant, a cafe in the summer, a health food store and a garden. There are 3 workshop facilities and a temple. Yoga and dance are big here: 3 yoga classes every day and 2 to 3 dances every week. Many people compare Harbin to Esalen on the coast south of Monterey. I think of Esalen as the the heady psychology cousin and Harbin the body cousin. Both are on sacred native American land. We have sweats in the winter to carry on the tradition of the native ceremonies. We have a ministers program and at this time we have 29 ordained ministers living here through the New Age Church of Being. The main church here is the Heart Consciousness Church that runs the business of being a retreat center. All very complicated as our founder has been a Harvard business person and part of the Human Potential Movement of the 70's.
There are about 150-170 residents who live and work here. We are an oligarchy run by 6 people making most of the decisions which is great when they make decisions which I like and can go in the other direction as well. I'm still here so they have made mostly good decisions for me. On the good side it keeps discussions to a minimum and things running mostly smoothly. (this said with a little tongue in cheek)

Check out the web site. We are located about 2 1/2 hours north of San Francisco above the Napa Valley.
