Are we able to create our own reality?

Quite apart from the fact that I believe that there is a GOD, and that he is in each of us, but is separate from us (and can and does affect our lives/reality)......
I can think of 100's of objective, repeatable tests that show that no one is an island, no one has complete control, nor can they have complete control/create of their reality.
I also believe that we can control our perception of events to live a 100% positive life.
HOWEVER, this does not equate to us being able to 100% create our reality, only our perception of reality.
There are things that happen, that have a real effect on our lives, that are outside of our control, however, they are not outside of our ability to mold our perception of them.
This is an age old discussion, which can be very interesting.
If anyone is of the belief that they can totally control/create their reality and would like some examples of why I believe this to not stand the test of the logical extreme, let me know. I'll post some up.

You are creating your own reality. I believe this to be a truth, but not the only truth.
I believe that balance, and understanding that this is true AND it is also true that our lives are affected by factors outside of us as individuals is ALSO true.
Take a look at this post-

Of course you create your own reality. The problem is some people are not aware of this.
[ARGUE FOR YOUR LIMITATIONS AND SURE ENOUGH THEY’RE YOURS]
[LEARNING IS FINDING OUT WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW. DOING IS DEMONSTRATING THAT YOU KNOW IT. TEACHING IS REMINDING OTHERS THAT THEY KNOW JUST AS WELL AS YOU. YOU ARE ALL LEARNERS DOERS, TEACHERS]

Well written.......I enjoyed this parable

They approached him hiding a butterfly in semi-closed hands and asked him if the creature is dead or alive.
They agreed amongst themselves that if the teacher answers: "Dead", the disciple will open hands and the butterfly will fly away alive, but if the teacher says "Alive" he will slightly squeeze his palms so that the butterfly will be dead...
Wise teacher answered: "Everything is in your hands..."
So we are always able to change our reality the way we want it.
Don't you think so?

Are you the master of your own life? Are you concsiously creating/changing your own reality?
You know what I mean - if you don't do it concsiously and purposfully, someone else would happily do it for you (through kindergardens, schools, universities, TV, mass media, advertising etc.)Last edited by VestnikRA; 05-01-2009, 04:55 AM.

A better question is if there is any way that we can NOT create our reality.

A wise teacher would not be taken by this test, he/she would say, 'Let the teacher learn and examine the facts himself. I shall make a decision and open your hands.' The teacher in this way is wise in that he controls the outcome and not the student. This also means that the reality is of the teacher and not the student.
Should the teacher allow the student to control reality shows the teacher to be an observer and not a teacher.
