Trying to do an end-run

Every word that Trump utters is recorded and analysed. Every bit of information that he receives is filtered and approved. The NUMEROUS war-mongers have a huge financial stake in continuing the status quo.
Leading up to the G-20 meeting, Trump started bashing Putin. At Hamburg, he was essentially off his leash. They needed to feel confident that Trump would closely follow their program. He was only scheduled for a 30 minute meeting, and it was believed that the meeting would fail to accomplish anything. The previous bashing would set the tone.

The meeting got very much extended. Trump and Putin agreed to a cease-fire in Syria beginning Sunday. Trump can't very well initiate things as president BUT, he CAN initiate things as commander-in-chief. The time frame for the implementation of the cease fire is AMAZING. It gives little time for congress to block him. It gives little choice for the pentagram.
Obviously, it is too early to pronounce judgement on the cease fire.
If Trump had communicated his intentions before the meeting, you can bet that all the powers of israel would have been turned against him.

As it is, Bibi has weighed in as being very much against a cease fire.

Donald Trump convinced Carrier to move only one of its Indiana plants to Mexico, in exchange for $7 million in tax breaks (and/or a tacit promise to make sure nothing happens to its parent company's federal contracts).
Trump then traveled to the factory he had rescued and announced that “over 1,100 workers” would be keeping their jobs thanks to his tireless efforts.
This was news to Chuck Jones, president of the union that represents those workers, United Steelworkers 1999. Trump had locked the union out of negotiations with Carrier, and so Jones had not been able to examine the terms of the agreement. Thus, he urged his workers to keep their optimism on the cautious side. As he would later write, “Our members got their hopes up. They thought their jobs had been saved.”
In fact, when Jones finally met with the management of Carrier, he discovered that only 730 factory jobs had been saved.
Jones said that he’d hoped Trump would be upfront about the terms of the deal, but instead that he had “lied his ass off.”

I do not know much about CNN. I stopped accessing their web site years ago when they required readers to agree to binding arbitration. As far as I know they are still a cable-only broadcaster. Your knowledge and appreciation of them is clearly superior to mine. What makes you think that I have pals there? In my 70 years it is doubtful that you and I have ever met.

A deal that then President-elect Trump claimed would save more than 1,000 jobs at an Indiana Carrier plant will actually send more than 600 jobs to Mexico, the company announced.
In the weeks following last November's election, Trump and then Vice President-elect Mike Pence highly publicized their efforts to put pressure on the air conditioner manufacturer to keep it from outsourcing jobs to Mexico — a key campaign promise.

The president had promised he would stop the exodus of jobs from Indiana to a facility in Mexico.
Despite assurances from President Donald Trump during his campaign that he would prevent the air-conditioner maker Carrier from moving jobs to Mexico, the company*will lay*off*hundreds of workers*at its Indianapolis, Indiana,*plant by 22 December 2017.
The company informed*state*officials in a 19 May 2017 letter that it would terminate 632 positions over the course of the year. According to the letter, 338 employees would be let go in July, another four on 1 October 2017 and the last 290 workers would be laid off on*22 December 2017.

Trump signs internet privacy repeal

President Trump signed a bill on Monday repealing internet privacy rules passed last year by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that would have given internet users greater control over what service providers can do with their data, a White House spokeswoman confirmed.
The FCC regulations would have required broadband companies to get permission from their customers in order to use their “sensitive” data — including browsing history, geolocation and financial and medical information — to create targeted advertisements.
The bill uses a little-known tool called the Congressional Review Act (CRA) that allows Congress and the president to overturn recently passed agency regulations. A successful CRA bill also prevents the agency from implementing similar rules in the future.

As soon as I heard that such a bill (Senate Joint Resolution 34 and House of Representatives Joint Resolution 86) was being considered, I sent letters to both of my senators and representative and the White House voicing strong opposition. I wish a lot more folks had done likewise (did you?). Imagine, if you will, that you prefer to order certain personal items like incontinent supplies online because of the privacy that it affords. Now, that your “problem” is exposed you can be inundated with offers of unimaginable related (and unrelated) junk.

The president was our last hope here. He does not control congress (and shouldn't) but he should have vetoed this intrusion into our privacy.
