Mikey, I've always had a problem with DUMBs. At shallow depths, there is just too much underground water. At deeper depths, it is just too hot,

The fumes and smoke generated by vaporizing many tons of rock. 60 mph does NOT sound reasonable.
Next, there is the pressure;

The tunnel exit would be much the same as a volcano. VERY hard to hide.
7500 psi at one mile depth sounds like too much.

Neutron bombs are built to do very little destruction BUT, release enormous radiation.
Both the tunnelling and the explosions would set off seismographs worldwide.
I doubt that anybody could fabricate a tunnelling machine made out of tungsten or titanium that had it's own drive system that could operate in a river of molten granite.

The things and bases I am referring to are documents military bases. Not hypothetical conjecture. 24 years special forces guy talking.

All of the military bases go way down and way under water tables. There are 50 ways of drilling, you mentioned a laser? The material will take time for you to digest. It is all there. Many bases have been there since the 1940's and this is common knowledge so I am not sure what the question is. Does a base need cooling? Yes. Is the psi of granite high? Yes it is. Is the air column psi in the holes under the ground at the same PSI as the rock down there? No.
