OldScientist's demo

Hey guys,

I have posted on this subject before, and not to beat a dead horse, I would like some final clarifications before I indeed try to replicate this demo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjz-5Lqtxow

That's the demo I am wishing to replicate.

Just a few bullet points I need to answer to fully grasp an understanding and finally replicate under supervision of my supervisor....

- What would a circuit diagram of this set up consist of? Is it just a primary and secondary wound with certain turn ratios etc? Could someone list a typical design dimension? Is inter-turn capacity or inductance crucial? What about about surface area of conductors?

- I assume primary connected to signal generator. These signals are square waves (pulsed)? Is the frequency defined by duration of wave train or relaxation time? What characteristics are most important from input signal? Oscillating nature? Quarter wavelength frequency of seconday coil?

Input is pulsed, but secondary waveform still remain sine waves?

- What is the terminals of secondary connected to? Just some measurement devices?

-Is this wireless DC transmission Tesla and Dollard talked about? Does square inverse law apply?

-Why doesn't this coil need a reflecting capacitor at end of secondary?

-What is typical power output of signal? Is high voltage necessary?

-A typical radio can receive this fine, which makes sense, it responds to induction....but wouldn't a reverse wound tesla coil do even better? or is this only for power distribution?

My professor is interested, please leave any comments you think will be helpful so I can replicate this. Equipment is not a problem, crucial factors are design dimensions and signal.... Would any design listed in TMT compendium do fine?

Thank you all again for your patience and help

Thanks for the input. If someone could address the questions I have stated, that would be helpful too. Thanks.

I can respond to spacecase as it might lead to a scope within the principal or
general aspect of devices that defy the Faraday enclosure.

So yes I think that is true that a caduceus could broadcast into a metal enclosure.

I have a wireless telephone that operates in another room at 900 some MHz .
I was sleeping in bedroom and wanted to stop the ringing
so I put it between two aluminum pie tins.

It did not stop the ringing so I decided to post this and not lose to much sleep over it.
Possibly more foundation could be laid to support various aspects of old scientist's setup.
In order to answer questions asked it probably should be broken down
as spacecase comment or DGreen comment that near field has.
Sounds plausable because a smith chart might be plotted that shows the natural splatter
pattern at that distance. That would answer in part but some effort is required
like a physics class a real challenge is presented.

Does square inverse law apply?
no it's 1/r if no objects are in the near field.

There is controversy among scientific fields about where exactly the near field ends.
As illustrated by this article.
Near field or far field?
Near field or far field? | EDN

It's hard to measure because the measurement device couples with the source.

Read some research papers by Hans G. Schantz if you want standard theory. He has good insight within the mainstream EM theory.
I have my own opinions.

Seems to me these are just magnetic fields going through the shielding as they should. Espescially the test with the cadeus coil and the other coil in a box. Clear the coil is receiving the magnetic field just like many AM radio's with ferite antenna's.

The question of double box method used by old scientist raises a few questions ;
Was a control used ? Was a signal of equivalent amplitude tested on the boxes?

In this video a cell phone placed in various metal containers and he gives his explanation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...vEiys2Zk#t=301

A metal detector for treasure hunters induces a magnetic field
as a result a coin in the ground will make a weak magnetic field of it's own.
A new shiney new coin is difficult to find but an old oxidized coin has a stronger signal.
The weak signal of a shiney new coin is a better choice of material to make a faraday cage.
The stronger field around the old oxidized coin might be just strong enough to transmit
a signal and would not be the best choice of material do to it's oxidized layer.

If you go back to the old scientist video you will find the comments are disabled as thus
not able to correct the error that Deco56 found.

Just to note. I have completed the project, and it DID NOT transmit thru a thick copper waveguide we had laying around in the lab. Seems the penetration depth of the AM band was around 2 millimeters and that box that OldScientist used was not thick enough. FM band was blocked out completely, though. There was 30 times difference in respective penetration depths. Seems like OldScientist has duped us unless he can prove otherwise. Maybe the extra coil or a proper driving circuit must be used. More experimentation needs to be done. I am sure there are anomalous effects going on, but so far none with Faraday cage penetration. I hope to ask Dollard some questions regarding this at the conference...
