Hi all,
An article in "The Electrical Experimenter" of July 1915 describe a gravity battery which might be interesting to duplicate if anyone feels like it. Voltage out is said to be 0.9V with a few Milli-amp. Gravity Battery - T.E.E. July 1915.png Michel |

Hi,
I did a search and found this on gravity battery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id3tL2iI0Vw P.S. You can also soak your zinc plate in Mercury ( amalgamation) to get the maximum the battery output. Last edited by Michelinho; 02-16-2016 at 10:30 AM. Reason: Update. |

I should mention that this is not a green battery and safety precautions apply. Gloves to handle the copper sulfate crystals or your fingers will turn black where it was touching. Open carefully the battery and use it to store the trash and reseal it, then you can put it in the battery recycle bin at a store near you. I think those big 6V batteries are made with "C" size cells now.
Copper sulfate is used in Tiffany lamps making to turn the solder surface dark brown, almost black and covers the solder surface with a protective film against oxidation. Take care, Michel Last edited by Michelinho; 02-16-2016 at 10:52 AM. Reason: corrections |
