  • Toroidal magnetic field question

Playing around with my magnets I noticed something odd to me with a microwave oven toroid magnet and a small button neo. I attached the small neo so it could roll around the perimeter of the toroid. I noticed it would settle in basically 3 spots or points. These points seemed to have the strongest attraction. The points were divided evenly seemingly making an equilateral triangle. Is there a known reason for this?

John Searl talks about magnetic standing waves formed on the perimeter of magnets, which smaller magnets ride, and that's how the Searl generator works.

Look up some videos and you'll see he shows the exact effect and it is a fundamental principle in the working of his device.

This publication describes the "Edge Currents" of PM's in Section 8. The "Edge Currents" are the major effect when considering how magnets attract and repel from each other.
