FACTS TO PONDER

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000

Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000

Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human Services.

Now think about this...

(B) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million..)

The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188

Statistics courtesy of the FBI

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember - "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

It is a disturbing thought what the medical establishment turned into. It is called IATROGENIC illness...doctor induced illness/death.

Examples of iatrogenesis:

medical error, poor prescription handwriting
negligence or faulty procedures
prescription drug interaction
adverse effects of prescription drugs
over-use of drugs leading to antibiotic resistance in bacteria
nosocomial infection
blood transfusion
harmful emotional distress from the ascription of mental pathology nomenclature for transient personal problemsI think those dept of health numbers are a weeeeee bit conservative

In the United State alone, recorded deaths per year (2000):

12,000—unnecessary surgery
7,000—medication errors in hospitals
20,000—other errors in hospitals
80,000—infections in hospitals
106,000—non-error, negative effects of drugs Based on these figures, 225,000 deaths per year constitutes the :eek:THIRD LEADING CAUSE:eek: of death in the United States, after deaths from heart disease and cancer. Also, there is a wide margin between these numbers of deaths and the next leading cause of death (cerebrovascular disease).
This totals 225,000 deaths per year from iatrogenic causes. In interpreting these numbers, note the following:

most data were derived from studies in hospitalized patients.
the estimates are for deaths only and do not include negative effects that are associated with disability or discomfort.
the estimates of death due to error are lower than those in the IOM report. If higher estimates are used, the deaths due to iatrogenic causes would range from 230,000 to 284,000That was in year 2000 and it seems to go up every year so the picture is even gloomier. THIRD leading cause of deaths???????:eek::eek:

The above data is from:
Starfield, B. (2000, July 26). Is US health really the best in the world? Journal of the American Medical Association, 284(4), 483-485.

I saw more recent studies showing it is actually the NUMBER ONE cause of death in America and if I can find it I'll post it.

Death by Medicine

By Gary Null, PhD; Carolyn Dean MD, ND; Martin Feldman, MD; Debora Rasio, MD; and Dorothy Smith, PhD

Something is wrong when regulatory agencies pretend that vitamins are dangerous, yet ignore published statistics showing that government-sanctioned medicine is the real hazard.

Until now, Life Extension could cite only isolated statistics to make its case about the dangers of conventional medicine. No one had ever analyzed and combined ALL of the published literature dealing with injuries and deaths caused by government-protected medicine. That has now changed.

A group of researchers meticulously reviewed the statistical evidence and their findings are absolutely shocking.4 These researchers have authored a paper titled “Death by Medicine” that presents compelling evidence that today’s system frequently causes more harm than good.

This fully referenced report shows the number of people having in-hospital, adverse reactions to prescribed drugs to be 2.2 million per year. The number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed annually for viral infections is 20 million per year. The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million per year. The number of people exposed to unnecessary hospitalization annually is 8.9 million per year.

The most stunning statistic, however, is that the total number of deaths caused by conventional medicine is an astounding 783,936 per year. It is now evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the US. (By contrast, the number of deaths attributable to heart disease in 2001 was 699,697, while the number of deaths attributable to cancer was 553,251.5)

We placed this article on our website to memorialize the failure of the American medical system. By exposing these gruesome statistics in painstaking detail, we provide a basis for competent and compassionate medical professionals to recognize the inadequacies of today’s system and at least attempt to institute meaningful reforms.

So guns are statistically getting safer by the year thanks to the American health care system? :suprise:

Hi Bill,

My own family uses holistic dentists and naturopathic doctors when needed.

Some of them are experienced in doing full reviews of the person looking at many areas of their their life, checking current diet, possible blood test to determine food incompatibilities, etc...

There are naturopaths, aurvedic practitioners and so on.

My mom is seeing one ND that uses hydrotherapy as well as doing extensive tests to see what she shouldn't eat..blood tests, etc... ...

She is also seeing a MD that I referred her to. The MD practices conventional medicine only when needed but primarily uses natural methods. This MD offers chelation therapy as well as vitamin C injections (drips). That helps pull metals, plaque, etc... She is doing this at the very beginning of having signs of atherosclerosis, etc... so it will turn that all around as well as being a serious preventive measure.

It depends on their illnesses.

My family members also use PATHS (http://www.paths-123.com). This is for both enhancement and prevention.

While this is a thought provoking post, I think to be fair we need to know the circumstances of these accidental medical deaths.

Are any surgery related? Did the people need the procedures they were receiving or are these deaths based off of elective surgeries that were not necessary.

I think it is important because if you need your appendix removed and the doctor accidentally kills you, I believe that is quite a bit different than an accidental shooting death.

It might be more comparative if the accidental shootings were in situations that were necessary like hostage situations or raids.

Someone thinking the safety is on and shooting their friend is much different than a doctor trying to repair someone and accidentally killing them.

Post is not even really motivated by anything to do with guns.

It is about how the AMA & FDA are so corrupt and Doctors, (in general, there are always exceptions) for all their learning, either have little common sense, or turn a blind eye to the facts regarding drugs and nutrition.

Read Aaron's two previous posts.

Read about Natures Own Antibiotic-

http://www.energeticforum.com/health-fitness-nutrition/2671-natures-own-antibiotic-part-i.html

http://www.energeticforum.com/health-fitness-nutrition/2672-natures-own-antibiotic-part-ii.html#post28844

Read about Chelation-

http://www.energeticforum.com/health-fitness-nutrition/1013-heart-bypass-surgery-not-needed.html

And the list goes on.

Yes, I am passionate about this. I have personally seen doctors kill many people with ridiculous "treatments", that even the slightest bit of common sense would tell you that "treatment" is poisoning the person, and preventing, rather than helping, the body to heal.

I personally was almost killed by doctors over 30 years ago. Then I finally took my health into my own hands and started applying my brain to it, instead of blindly following Doctors advice. I found a Doctor turned nutritionist and recovered from the AMA taught "treatment" that almost killed me.

Then about 20 years ago I had knee surgery, and a doctor almost killed me again with a double dose of anesthesia!

Sorry for the rant, but I give no quarter to the AMA, FDA or robot Doctors that waste their knowledge by blindly following the AMA and FDA.

As always, when I rail on allopathic medicine, I give much credit to their great advances and benefits in triage situations.

Hi Gary,

In Kevin's thread about who is the healthiest group of people, I posted one message about my friend's father that lived to 99. Went to the doctor because he fell and bumped his head. They wanted to keep him overnight. The doc gave him atenolol without checking his blood pressure...Henry had LOW blood pressure and that drug dropped his blood pressure thru the floor...he went into some kind of coma and was dead in a few days. That is murder by malpractice. It would only take one molecularly sized piece of common sense for that doctor to check the blood pressure.

I have a good friend here that is a retired MD and was a pathologist at a local establishment for 25 years as well as having an encyclopedia's worth of other credentials. He talked about the location he worked at - example - one patient died from surgery cause they removed the WRONG kidney...took out the healthy one and left the bad one. Also murder by malpractice...AND what is scary...is that those published numbers of death by conventional medicine does NOT include all the ones that are covered up that we will never know about...and there are a LOT of them  He told me word for word, "If you want to stay healthy, stay away from the doctors."

I personally know many people that have been outright murdered by malpractice. A few were cancer patients originally...met with some of my friends and basically the cancer went away from their methods...some of their oncologists told them, "whatever you're doing keep doing it"...that is a good thing, BUT, "it would be a good idea to" continue chemo, etc... when it was not indicated! They died cancer free...and the death was from the drugs that destroyed their body.

Someone close to me died of ovarian cancer Jan 07. I won't go into the ridiculous nature of what it took to finally determine it was cancer. Anyway, I printed all the abstracts of studies from PubMed Home (http://www.pubmed.com) for that exact cancer with Vitamin C IV, etc... I already know that C can cure cancer but just to get the documents for the doctor... the studies to the MD and she looked at them and knew the doctors conducting the study...she went to school with them..Northwestern University. Study was done at a gynecological ontology clinic somewhere in Kansas. All the patients that had the high doses of C were the ones that didn't have recurrences of cancer after the masses were removed, etc... and this doctor had the audacity to say, "If the vitamin c shows to be effective, I'll be recommending it to all my patients."

IF????????????????? How much harder can a doctor slap you in the face that with a statement like that when it has been proven to be effective over and over and over and over? Unfortunately the husband of the patient accepts authority as truth instead of truth as authority and her own opinion was swayed by this under a false belief that it is her choice that is being respected...anyway, it was sad to see her take one step closer to death day by day through much suffering all the way to the end through hospice at her home. I remember vacuuming her hair out of the carpet that fell from her head when the bed was taken back by hospice.:(

This is murder because the doctor looked at the facts but wouldn't let herself believe anything that she didn't learn in medical school and her indoctrination into her work at the hospital. If they know the facts and refuse to act, they are guilty of murder and it is not an accident.

And a couple months later I see this doctor at a local organic grocery store that has a large supplement section...one of my old competitors...and she pulled into the parking lot with a brand new car...paid for by her good paychecks because she supports the system so well.

Anyway, I'm just a tad bit passionate about not accepting or tolerating this legalized murder. I'm not griping to you personally Gary, just venting about the problem in general to anyone that wants to read this. I've seen too many people get taken by this bogus medical system, which is setup for population control and corporate profit. The AMA hijacked the medical system long ago for this purpose and they have fulfilled their mission quite well.

And they're trying to make vitamins and other supplements illegal because they might be dangerous??? And it is essentially illegal to say a vegetable juice has certain benefits to the body? And if I do, I'm practicing medicine without a license? The system has absolutely lost its mind.

War is Peace and Peace is War...this doublespeak is alive and well in our society so much that most people don't notice...allow people to be killed by dangerous drugs that are unproven but make natural supplements illegal.

I know doctors that are good people and think for themselves. But it doesn't have anything to do with good or bad...because many doctors that are part of the problem are good people that are just so brainwashed by the system, they can't possibly imagine anything else....the kind of people that think if abc is true then all the medical schools would be teaching it...that kind of ridiculous logic.

People need to be educated and they need to stand up to their doctors...there is a serious need for patient advocates that KNOW what the deal is and is willing to confront the doctors head on. I don't mean advocates that simply make sure the meals are on time and an extra pillow is given if needed...I mean an advocate that keeps the system on its toes and knows that "we're not gonna take it anymore."

Grassroots movements work and I hope everyone does their part in ensuring health freedom!!!

Here is an example of how Bayer knowingly mass murdered thousands of people with the aids virus:
Bayer Spreads Aids With Tainted Drug - Truveo Video Search (http://in.truveo.com/Bayer-Spreads-Aids-With-Tainted-Drug/id/558335812)

Bayer Sued By Hemophiliacs, Accused Of Conspiring To Sell Contaminated Blood Products - CBS News (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/06/03/health/main556653.shtml)

The say they acted with the best knowledge, etc... at the time...but documents show they knew full well their drug was tainted. Congress covered it up. Then Bayer dumped it in Spain, France, and Japan.

Since they did know ahead of time and then did this to make a profit from it still by dumping it overseas, that is premeditated mass murder.

Officials in France that allowed the drug to come went to prison but those in the US were not even investigated!!:eek::eek:

I think I did a poor job on my first post because my point was completely missed.

I have sick family members, paralyzed family members and dead family members, all directly attributed to bad decisions made by doctors. Every single one of them should either be healthy or alive, but aren't because someone who shouldn't be a doctor was able to attend school and pass a test.

And in the realm of these legal drug dealing companies providing for the doctors, I have similar sentiments. I have seen the drug reps in action, going to the doctors and instead of showing them the pro's and con's of their latest drugs, offering them front row tickets to sporting events and lavishing them with free vacations, kick backs, who knows what else.

Taking into consideration the obvious politics, corruption, greed and ignorance that plagues the medical community and probably accounts for most of your statistics, the most dangerous element of all is the patient.

Too often patients regard doctors as something more than human. I guess it is important to trust the guy that is going to cut you open, but people take it way too far and don't take into account that doctors are no different than the rest of us. It is just a guy with a different set of manuals who probably forgot a great deal of the stuff that he went to school 8 years to learn. Clumsy surgeons, forgetful physicians and a plain dumb general practitioner. I am sure everyone is represented in the overall equation.

A heavily admired doctor leads to an egotistical doctor, and an egotistical doctor quickly becomes close minded to valuable thoughts and ideas that could eventually save someones life. Not everyone needs prescription drugs or a procedure, but those are the only routes that some doctors deem "acceptable".

The point that struck me of the initial post and what I was attempting to illustrate was that even if you know the ill's of our health system, there are certain things that can go wrong with your body and no matter what, you're going to end up on the slab with a medical doctor digging around in your torso. I thought it was the inevitability of that that caused a problem between the statistical comparison.

In other words, in the scenarios in which these accidental gun deaths took place, the role of the participants would be more likely elective while in the medical related deaths the participation of both the doctor and the patient would have been more likely required. I was by no means absolving doctors for shoddy performance or making any kind of endorsement of the state of our current health industry.

I know how bad it is..
