I think it is important to consider how much time has to be put into something like this, months, years, decades to even get a decent result. Especially when you are toiling in the realms of what most people believe to be "impossible".

While it would be great if people could spend lifetimes developing new technologies and simply release them into the public domain, there are all sorts of extenuating issues that make it a bad idea. the first one that comes to mind is how will that person who did all the developing survive?

It is absolutely fine to develop things and release them for free if that is your wish. it is also equally fine to receive something for your efforts.

I have only seen these motors function in videos, and don't know a lot about them, but if these devices could even possibly provide you with free energy for a lifetime, I think people who spend their time researching and developing them should receive what they deem fair to publish their findings..
