It looks like the diagrams in the middle of the book are all similar. Figure 36 looks most relevent but im only guessing becuase I havnt finished reading the book.

Sorry to be so obvious, but if you would type your questions into Google, the answers are all over the internet. A simple "school girl motor" search yields 2.3 million hits, with the first one at PESwiki:

In Bearden's book, the circuit would be called "The Mono-Pole Motor". Quite a number of different variations are presented for charging batteries directly, or for charging capacitors and then discharging them.
