Doing The Right Thing,
That's not always easy (although fleeing from the fire is natural).
If you can get some time, get quiet and still and see/feel the "scene" you want for you and your kids. I mean the one you want to end up in.
If you can, do that 10-15 minutes each day.
The rest of the time work on forgiveness : Forgive the people at the shelter for their limitations. Forgive yourself and everyone as much as you can. You are making history!!
(I know what I am saying is not that profound but we are all in different situations and someone removed may be able to see it more from the outside. Hope that helps.)
I also hope this doesn't want to make you tear your hair out but I see their concern. For example (and maybe they're already saying this) he could act like it's all peacefull or whatever but if you try to leave the state he could probably prevent it until the court settles everything. Dope am I doing it too? It's just 'cause I've seen that actually happen before and I think these people you mention have seen that type of thing too.
Ok back to the forgiveness . . .yes forgiveness, forgiveness and to YOUR NEW LIFE!!
