how did you come to know God? How did you find proof of the existence of the divine? You always hear the viewpoint from the atheistic scientists--I'm interested in hearing the agument from the other side.
I think I came to know God mostly out of being in situations where I felt helpless.
It seemed a better choice to believe in a higher force at those times.
I also read scripture a lot and find that when I do, things go better than when I don't. It doesn't matter if what I read makes logical sense or not.
I guess that's the proof for me. That and just the feeling is way better when I believe in God.
The God I believe in is pure love.
Every person has his/her own relationship with God. This is why the curtain in the tabernacle was torn in two the moment Jesus died. It had blocked off the area for the high priest only. Now there is no partition.
In fact there never was but people had certain stages in their evolution of understanding God and anything past animalistic survival.
Anytime God is made to look bad, I believe it is the Devil trying to trick people out of their best interest.
I believe Jesus knew how horribly his name would be slandered but went through with his mission with the understanding that some would really get his message.
I believe that there are many people who sometimes allow God to work through them and sometimes allow darkness to work through them.
Now do I literally believe in a Devil? I don't know, but it is simpler to me to think of one God and one Devil than other ways of thinking about it.
Right or wrong about that, it is hard enough to comprehend God so that is why it seems better for me to keep it to one source of all goodness.
